St. Peter's E-News:

E-News for Wednesday, December 23, 2020

Dear Friends,

On Thursday evening we will have reached the end of our Advent journey. Mary and Joseph will arrive in Bethlehem and Jesus will be born. Then will come the season of rejoicing that our savior Jesus Christ is born. Jean Baker has written a lovely reflection. I encourage you to read her thoughts and prayer. You can link to this devotional at Worship at Home for Christmas Eve.

On Christmas Eve whether you are with your family or alone, take time to read the story of Jesus’ birth and sing the carols found in the bulletin. No matter what is happening in the world, the Good News cannot be stopped. The Good News that God has sent to us a savior. Hallelujah!

I invite you to set out Advent Candles at home to light on Christmas Eve. The candles do not have to be the purple and pink candles that we use at church. Light your candles, read the scripture passage and say the prayers in your own home. God is with you always.

We will be worshipping in person and livestreaming via Facebook 9am on Sunday mornings. You need not have a Facebook account to watch and listen. You are in my thoughts and prayers. If you need anything, please call my cell phone 573-832-2475.

  • There is a Christmas tree with blue lights outside on the Peter’s street side of the church. Members of the community are invited to hang ornaments to remember loved ones who have passed, symbols of this difficult year and signs of hope on this tree.
  • We are looking for members to serve on the Church Council beginning January of 2021. Please talk to Nancy Landwehr or Bob Niebruegge, if you are interested.
  • We are looking for Delegates to represent St. Peter’s at the Eastern Association Meeting and the Conference Annual Gathering. These meetings will probably be held via Zoom. The dates are yet to be announced.
  • I will be on vacation from Friday, December 25, 2020 until Wednesday, January 6, 2021.
    • There will be no weekly mailing for Sunday, December 27 or Sunday, January 3.
    • Jean Baker will be leading the in-person worship services.
    • Rev. Van Lahmeyer will be covering any pastoral emergencies.
    • Worship Services will not be Livestreamed while I am gone.
    • Worship at Home will be available at

Prayers and Blessings,

Pastor Stephanie DeLong
