E-News for Friday, April 3, 2020

Dear Friends,

O give thanks to God,
for God is good;
God's steadfast love endures
forever! Psalm 118:1

Sunday is the beginning of Holy Week with Palm Sunday. I am sad that we will not be having Confirmation this Sunday or waving Palms or singing Hosanna together in our sanctuary. We still can be the church and worship in our homes. Please check our website daily for updates. I am trying to keep it fresh. It is also the best place to post resources and information for our church. Remember that God loves us and walks with us always. Jesus is the true king of this world who saves us and gives us life.

Our Missouri Mid-South Conference Minister the Rev. Dr. Ginny Brown Daniel has sent us special Holy Week greetings. Click here to view our message or you can link to it through our website.

This is our Holy Week Schedule:

Palm Sunday: I have posted a Worship at Home Palm Sunday resource on our website, . Prayers and Meditation for Palm Sunday are posted on our website. The link to our Palm Sunday Podcast will be posted on Saturday. Hard copies of this service have been sent to members who don’t have email addresses or good internet connections.
Confirmation has tentatively been reschedule for Pentecost Sunday, May 31. I will share addresses of the confirmands soon, so that you may send them your good wishes.

Maundy Thursday: Prayer and Mediation will be sent out next week. A short podcast will be recorded. You will be invited to share in the Lord’s Supper with whatever bread and drink that you have in your home. Hard copies of this prayer service and the one for Good Friday will be sent to those without internet. Jean Baker will provide music for this podcast.

Good Friday: The wooden cross from the Sanctuary will be placed outside. Rocks, nails and other symbols will be placed on or at the foot of the cross. Prayers and meditations will be posted on our website. A podcast will be shared too.

Easter Sunday: This will begin at 6:30am in the St. Peter’s UCC Cemetery. I will try to Facebook Live stream a short prayer service from the cemetery. I plan to do this alone, just as Mary did so long ago.
A podcast with music for prayer and meditation will also be created and shared. Jean Baker will provide music for the podcast. Flowers will be placed by the wooden cross outside the church.
