Weekly E-News for Friday, October 4, 2019

Dear Friends,

The bulletin theme for this Sunday is Free to Grieve. The theme comes from Lamentations 1:1-6 and Psalm 137. So often as Christians, we feel that we must put on a good front and not confront God with our anger and pain. The Psalmist and the writer of Lamentations take time to express their thoughts in words and prayers. It is okay to cry when our hearts our broken. Let God know just how you feel. God can take it. Better still God will still love you and help you to heal.

This Sunday is World Communion Sunday. Christians all over the world will be taking communion on the same day. Pretty amazing isn’t it. We are all united in Christ, the bread of life. The sermon title for this Sunday is United in Bread. The sermon explores the topic of grief and the bread of communion. As part of the sermon, I will be preparing some bread dough that I learned how to make during my time as a Peace Corps volunteer. The dough will be “baked” on a hot griddle by the confirmands and anyone who wishes to join us during Sunday School time.

We are praying for:
